The Carrier 08-2833-68 is an OEM replacement high limit switch designed to protect furnaces and heating systems from dangerous overheating conditions. Designated L135-45F, this limit switch is engineered to open the circuit at 135°F and reset automatically once the temperature drops by 45°F — restoring normal operation without manual intervention.

How It Works

The high limit switch continuously monitors heat exchanger or plenum temperatures. When temperatures exceed the rated setpoint, the switch interrupts the burner circuit, preventing heat damage to the heat exchanger, blower components, and surrounding ductwork. Once the system cools to the reset threshold, the switch closes and allows normal furnace operation to resume.

Key Features
  • OEM Carrier replacement part — ensures proper fit and reliable performance
  • Opens (trips) at 135°F to shut down burner on high-temperature condition
  • 45°F differential — automatically resets at approximately 90°F
  • Protects heat exchanger, blower assembly, and ductwork from heat damage
  • Direct replacement for Carrier furnace applications
  • Durable construction for long service life in residential and light commercial heating systems

Application

This limit switch is a direct OEM replacement for select Carrier furnace models. Always verify compatibility with your specific unit’s model and serial number before installation. Proper limit switch function is critical to safe furnace operation — a failed or bypassed limit switch can result in heat exchanger damage, fire hazard, or carbon monoxide risk.
